NOVEMBER 13th...EDITOR NOTE: I don't know about you, but It was a boring week without our Susan on DWTS.  She was so gracious at the final countdown, and performed the last dance with Tony to absolute perfection.  I am sure her fans were just as proud watching her receive the news with such grace and style - as only Susan Lucci would.  I am glad I taped all performances so I can have a "Dancing with the Stars" night in review.  It was a joy to see Susan as herself in competition, along with filtering remnants of Erica Kane at just the right moments.

Be sure to check out the "Behind the Scenes" gallery below as Week 7 pictures are in.  There is also one of her attending Elton John's concert where she must have outshone every female in attendance.  Check it out...

BEST TIME 2008: WATCHING SUSAN LUCCI on DANCING WITH THE STARS!
WEEK 7 BEHIND THE SCENES PICTURES ARE IN below...and Susan's - "My DWTS Daily Diary & Personal Photo's!"

Monday, November 3rd...Week 7  WOW!  Felt a bit Pamplona last night as Susan and Tony thundered the dance floor with the Paso Doble - (for those not familiar with this dance, it is a walking or marching one-step dance backed by music generally played at Spanish Bullfights or Fiestas...interesting tidbit, as pasodoble actually means "two-step" in Spanish, it is a bit of a misnomer.)

They performed this fast Spanish ballroom dance superbly, to where you could almost feel and hear the thundering bulls.  Both were costumed brilliantly in true Spanish matador red and black...seems that Susan has made "red" her signature color of triumph while "Dancing with the Stars!"

Monday, October 27th...Week 6  Hot and sultry mambo mama hit the dance floor last night in a stunning red-fringed ensemble that swirled seductively in each dance maneuver.  Susan and Tony worked the floor in mambo precision, and their score of 23, short of the mark in my opinion, won by positive critiques from Michael Flatley - "elegance, grace, and beauty"..."eye contact was intoxicating", to name a few, and Carrie Ann's comment "you broke the box", which truly revealed the hard work that Susan put into last night's performance.  (It was also nice to see Michael sitting in for Len - he was looking "fit & fiddle" after a spell away from the dance world due to illness.)

Susan's lioness animal side came out at the dance finale...possibly resulting from her time spent at a mambo club with Tony and her AMC friends...excellent choice for rehearsal in working out the kinks, letting her down, and perfecting her dance.  And speaking of finales...the show finale in a group hip-hop dance-off was great - you could really see the work and ensemble piece, and the fun generated in rehearsals really came through.

Fast forward to tonight's show...I'm still feelin' the buzz in more weeks to come.

Monday, October 20th...in a tribute to the 70's disco era, Susan and Tony did the Hustle in a Monday Night Fever. starting off week 5 in Dancing with the Stars.  An all-over Solid Gold Dancer was Susan in last nights performance as she shimmied and hustled her way around the dance floor in a vision of dazzling 24K Gold fringe - literally...head-to-toe.

And...what a pro in the show must go on - her gold fringed boots were made for walking - and then some, as she boogied-on-down...with a recently fractured foot.   Did I think she was "precious" in steps last night - well, no.  I don't know about you, but I could close my eyes and the strobe lights were blinding...the disco beat pulsating and pounding...and the vision of her swirling and twirling in gold fringe wonder turned back my time clock to the exciting days of Club 54.

Monday, October 13th...Sssmokin' hot and red-all-over...this was the mode of dance tonight when Susan and Tony drove the tango home to a well-earned 24 points!

You could feel the pulsating heat on the dance floor tonight in Susan's clipped and precise movements, injected with a bit of sultry Erica Kane coming through dancing like hot sauce on a roll.  Her inner strength and passion were flowing as she hit the floor tonight in a sizzling red and black number...a costume that did a tango on its own...Classy and Hot!

Each show just gets better and better...and it is apparent that Susan is in this to the end.  Can't get any better than that!

Tuesday, October 7th...Last night opened with an array of costumes for the dance-off numbers - Jive and the Viennese Waltz - that was a show within itself.  Susan and Tony performed a nostalgic rendition of Jive with perfect timing and movement, to a lively 50's golden-oldie tune.  Susan was a "yummy" 1950's vision...ultra feminine...ultra "adorable" (not sounding too Len in Strictly Come Dancing...) in a swing skirt ensemble that brought forth a bit American Bandstand...and a bit American Graffiti...in fact, so captivating, I won't be surprised if we see she has started a whole new fashion trend for spring 2009.    "...and they call it puppy love..." were your thoughts swirling Paul Anka last night, or what!

Tuesday, September 30th...Week 3 starts off with dancing categories in Jive or the Viennese Waltz...I bet Helmut is rooting for the Waltz...his Austrian input could prove valuable in putting her over the top in this segment of the competition.  Can't wait!  Be sure to watch on Monday...the dance techniques and fabulous costumes just keep getting better...and BETTER!

"My Weekly Dancing with the Stars Regimen"

SATURDAY:

I wake up bright and early on Saturday morning to take the first flight out to Los Angeles. As soon as I land in California, I race over to the costume design department to try on the rough cut of my dress that I will wear on Monday to perform. It’s so excited because everyone is so talented. They way they put together these outfits for all the contestants each week is really unbelievable.

After my costume fitting, I go for lunch. And this day calls for Spaghetti and Meatballs! Now, remember, I’m dancing 5 hours a day. This girl needs her carbs! And when not devouring my amazing Italian meal, I might also have grilled salmon or salads. I eat lots of protein and carbs. Need to stay balanced!

When lunch is over, I go back to the dance studio to meet my amazing partner Tony. We have gotten to know each other so well. It’s so exciting when you click with someone. What a bonus! Now by Saturday we have already been dancing for an entire week so we are just perfecting our dance moves by today.

After dancing, I am completely wiped out and look forward to taking a bubble bath and pampering my skin with all the wonderful Youthful Essence products. It just makes me feel so relaxed and at home. Like a little bit of Garden City right there in Los Angeles.

Bedtime – lights out 9 p.m.!

SUNDAY:

On Sunday morning, I wake up bright and early to do a pilates workout with the Malibu Pilates chair. Then I am on my way to go for Camera Blocking. Every Sunday the contestants all meet at the studio to practice on the dance floor for the actual performance. It gives the directors a chance to light the stage, check the angles and make sure they get the best of out each of us on Monday night!  We have about an hour on the stage and perform our song 4 or 5 times.

When it’s over, I go to lunch, and then go dancing for about 4 more hours again with Tony. It’s truly amazing what these dancers go through for each show. They are so passionate, dedicated and full of energy. Tony wants us to win and so do I!  Sometimes, I’ll do an interview in between but Sunday’s are my quiet day, to think about Monday, dance both in the studio and go through the moves in my head, relax and get a good night sleep. As Monday is a long day!

MONDAY:

Its Monday morning! Show day and I am up bright and early for my 9 a.m. call time. A little oatmeal or scrambled eggs and some coffee and I’m out the door! This is the day when we get to rehearse with the whole orchestra.

Its amazing because for the entire week we have been dancing to recorded music and this is the first time I am hearing the music live. It is so exhilarating to move on the floor listening to the music and letting it envelope me into the mood and style of the dance. This is truly one of my most favorite parts except for perhaps when my name is called and I get to dance in front of all of you. I wasn’t kidding when I said it was time for Erica Kane to learn how to dance. Who knew there was something my character hadn’t’ done after all this time. We gotta get her some lessons!

Anyway, after my final camera blocking and rehearsal with the orchestra, I go straight to hair and makeup. Each week is different but the process usually takes 2 – 3 hours.  I’m starting to get nervous! My butterflies are arriving right on time!

Before I know it, we are doing final touches, and I’m having my pep talk with Tony. 5  p.m. PST comes so fast ; where did the day go? I’m  dressed, I’m ready and we’re all starting to gather in the waiting area for Showtime! And then soon enough, “Dancing with the Stars” starts live at 5 p.m. PST, 8 p.m. EST.

I am so alive with adrenaline and excitement that I can hardly wait to dance for you and the judges. I’ve come so far since my first performance and its so wonderful to feel the confidence in me rise as I take to the dance floor. Thank you so much for voting for me and having confidence in me! It’s the fans that keep me going! I don’t want to disappoint you. After the show, we have this amazing press line and we all talk about the week’s show. When I’m done with the media, I go for dinner with friends. There are so many wonderful restaurants to try in Los Angeles.

TUESDAY:

ELIMINATION DAY! ------ Butterflies!

I don’t have to be at the studio till 11a.m on Tuesday but I can’t wait to get there and at the same time don’t want to go. The Elimination day is by far the most nerve wracking of all! Am I going to be eliminated? Can I dance again for another week? It’s all live, so we don’t know until you know, who is going home!

But at the same time, what is great about Tuesday is that we learn the music for the dance for the following week, meet with the head costume designer and whole department and sit together to hear the music and conceptualize what the costumes are going to look like. Can you believe they create costumes for all of us in only 1 week?  The head costume designer’s name is Randall and he is just amazing as is the rest of the team. Professional, smart and so creative! They always make me look amazing!

So…if I’m not eliminated and this week I wasn’t (so excited), I fly home on the red eye, to get back to New York. Tony comes with me and bless him for being able to keep up with my crazy bi-coastal schedule!

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY:

I get in and get home around 10 a.m. in the morning. I am so tired from the flight that I sleep in the car all the way home. Helmut is so wonderful… traveling back and forth with me to Los Angeles every week. He keeps me sane! He encourages me to get some shut eye while he goes about our business making sure everything is running smoothly. When I wake up, I usually have a couple of eggs, read the paper, and start to get acclimated to my New York schedule. I have to get Erica Kane on the brain, as it won’t be long before I have to go to the ABC Studio. As you know, Erica and the rest of Pine Valley was recently in a tornado! I mean, anything can happen there!

Back to Dancing with the Stars…. In the afternoon, I go to meet Tony for about two hours of dancing. This is the first time Tony and I will be learning our new dance for Monday night. He is so patient with me as I learn the steps and block them out with him.  This is a great day. It is new and fresh and we start all over again.

When I get home from rehearsing, there is an All My Children script waiting for me. What kind of trouble has Erica Kane got into now! I am about to find out as I peruse through my lines and get ready for work on Thursday and Friday.

Now being back in New York is no small feat. I honestly don’t know how Cameron did it, but I am doing it each week and its starting to become par t of my schedule. The amazing producers at All My Children were able to make it possible for me to do Dancing with the Stars so I owe it to everyone to do my best as if it was a regular schedule.

So I get to work on Thursday and Friday mornings, work in the A.M. and the have some lunch and go dancing in the P.M. As you know, I even took Tony to work with me one day. How much fun that was! I was serious about bringing him back to the show – he has so much talent! Maybe he can give Erica dancing lessons when this is all over!

Each day, after the rehearsal of All My Children, I race to the rehearsal hall to meet Tony to practice my new dance for Dancing with the Stars. I think about it all the time. Even when I am at All My Children it takes so much for me not to think about dancing. I eat, sleep and breathe Dancing with the Stars and this has been the most amazing experience for me.

Friday afternoon comes and I am already memorizing my moves and starting to put the drama and excitement into the dance. Before I know it, I am back on a plane to Los Angeles to hit the costume department and start this all over again!

So now you have an inside look into my world. I hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks for reading and watching…

Love,

Susan

Monday, September 29th...WOW!  How does she do it?  Switching back and forth, coast-to-coast, between "All My Children's" Erica Kane and Susan Lucci on the dance floor...but she does it well, and was sexy, sassy, and SIZZLING tonight!

Tonight's performance was the true picture of sultry Erica Kane whipping her man into shape on the dance floor - oh yes - she and Tony had the moves.  Her costume and accessories were picture perfect, and when she ripped Tony's shirt open - well, let's just say the first show of the second week started off with a bang...SUSAN'S BACK, AND IN A BIG WAY!

Top-Form for Susan and Tony, I give them a Top-10 for this evening!

Wednesday, September 24th Show..."Did ya standup and CHEER?"  I am here to tell you, I certainly did!  Susan's response to the news was as genuine as winning her Emmy.  This all so exciting so be sure to mark your calendar now for Week 2 events!

All My Children's Susan Lucci Makes a Comeback on DANCING WITH THE STARS

La Lucci Raises the Bar with her Elegant Quickstep!!

Susan Lucci perhaps the most recognizable actress in all of daytime television waited in the wings last night on 'Dancing with the Stars' with professional dancing partner Tony Dovolani by her side just to discover whether or not she would face elimination during the first results show of Dancing's intense and hyped up premier event.  Lucci managed to survive and get a second chance to dance as it was instead  Jeffrey Ross and Edyta Sliwinska who were eliminated during the 'couple to go disco ball crashing' segment of the show.

Lucci and Dovolani took to the dance floor for the second time after realizing they were safe and the judges--most especially Carrie Ann Inaba--clearly warmed up to their performance.  Lucci was elegant as she performed the quickstep and judge Len Goodman gloated because he had predicted on Monday night's opening episode that Lucci would find her niche in the ballroom portion of the competition.  Bruno Toniolli clearly agreed with Goodman and that was clear when he told Lucci she was all about elegance and glamour.

Carrie Ann Inaba also liked what she saw and commented the this was the Susan Lucci she expected to see on Monday night.  Inaba observed she saw power, charisma and strength and that's what she had expected on Monday.  Lucci and Dovalani managed to reach an impressive spot on the leader board with a score of 22 tied in second place with Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson.  Only two couples with a score of 23 each are ahead of them at this point and we all know it's anyone's disco ball trophy at this point.

I wish Lucci the best and am thrilled that she managed to tie for second place with NFL Football player Warren Sapp!  How 'not frail' is that?  Kudos to all the stars who take on this challenge because it's an intense experience and they all deserve applause for their efforts.

VOTE SUSAN LUCCI...VOTE SUSAN...VOTE SUSAN LUCCI...VOTE SUSAN...VOTE SUSAN LUCCI!

9/24/2008...WAS THAT A SHOW LAST NIGHT...OR WHAT!

Not only did Susan look absolutely fabulous costumed to perfection from head-to-toe in ballroom dancing mode, she and her partner "quick-stepped" to perfection in a true celebration of ballroom dancing!  Made me want to jump up...put on my dancing shoes...and try some of their moves.

I have to say, I was literally on tenterhooks rooting for her and Tony when they took to the stage - and WOW - did she pull it off!  Her self-assurance was elevated last night in her second dance performance that was evident in the Judges final critique - a glowing review that was excitement itself.

The points recap made statement of the hard work  these two are putting into the game, with an increase from last night in a final score of 22 points.

But, I ask you, what else would we ever expect from Susan Lucci after years of portraying "All My Children's" Erica Kane, and you could see glimmers of her glowing through in last nights performance, this is a woman that has recovered instantly from more adventures than one could ever imagine in ones lifetime!

WELL DONE SUSAN!

Susan teams up with Tony Dovolani, who returns for his sixth season, along with 12 other stars to display their ballroom dancing talents TONIGHT on Dancing with the Stars.  Being touted as the biggest and most demanding season ever, this is a first where partners will prepare two routines for the first week competition.

Susan Lucci, Toni Braxton set for ABC's `Dancing'

NEW YORK (AP) — Susan Lucci, Toni Braxton and Lance Bass will hit the floor on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

They are among 13 celebrities slated to compete on the new season of the top-rated dance contest, premiering Sept. 22.

The other contestants are Cloris Leachman, Kim Kardashian, Ted McGinley, Brooke Burke, NFL champ Warren Sapp and two Olympic athletes: Misty May-Treanor, who won her second gold medal for beach volleyball at this year's summer games in Beijing, and Maurice Greene, who won two gold medals in track at the 2000 games in Sydney.

Rounding out the cast are chef Rocco DiSpirito, Cody Linley of "Hannah Montana" and comedian Jeffrey Ross.

The names were announced Monday on ABC News' "Good Morning America."

Kardashian, who co-stars with her family on the E! reality series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," checked into a New York City hospital Sunday after cutting her foot on a glass table in her hotel room.

"I cut my foot pretty bad. ... It looked like a murder scene with all the blood everywhere," Kardashian said in a phone call to "GMA."

"I will be able to dance. I went to the hospital. I'll be fine," she said.

During all the years that Susan Lucci was nominated for - and famously lost - the Daytime Emmy Award for her performance as Erica Kane on "All My Children," she handled the result each time with extraordinary grace.

So when she finally won her Emmy in 1999 - on her 19th try - there was something akin to a palpable sense of nationwide relief, even if it meant she wouldn't be able to spoof her losing streak on "Saturday Night Live" and in commercials.

"When I did win, I got the key to the city of New York and New York City firemen would stop on their trucks and give me a big thumbs-up, and beggars would sing," Susan said with a laugh when we spoke at a pre-Emmy party last week. "It was wonderful. It's much better to win, but it's great to be nominated."

The night of her win, Susan vowed that she would return to the set of "Children" the next day and play Erica "for all she's worth." She kept her word, and is now in her 38th year on the show playing the most famous character in soap opera history.

"I love the part of Erica Kane," she said. "I walk into the studio in the morning and I'm smiling, I'm happy. I work with great actors and I've got one of the best parts ever written for a woman, as far as I'm concerned."

Remarkably youthful at 61, Susan has managed to juggle her role as the larger-than-life Erica with many other ventures, including a series of well-received television movies ("Mafia Princess," "Between Love and Hate" and “EbbieRemarkably youthful at 61, Susan has managed to juggle her role as the larger-than-life Erica with many other ventures, including a series of well-received television movies ("Mafia Princess," "Between Love and Hate" and “Ebbie”).

"I love that the fans and the public have really responded to (Erica) so much that I also have had the chance to go on Broadway in `Annie Get Your Gun' and have a line of jewelry and lingerie and all of that on HSN," she said. "I enjoy it all. But it's all because of Erica Kane."

Erica has been married seven times, legally, and there were another five unions that were either ceremonial or later found to be invalid.

"No, I don't forget," she said when I asked whether she remembered everyone her character had been married to. Nothing in Erica's life is ever simple. She has a lesbian daughter who battled anorexia, a daughter from a traumatic teenage rape, and a son who she thought she had aborted but who was used by the doctor in an experimental fetal transplant.

Working woman Erica started as a model, then edited a magazine, wrote several books, ran a cosmetic empire and now works as a talk-show host. She is currently involved in a political story line with Mario Van Peebles.

"I had talked about Erica being involved with a politician and the political world a couple of years ago," Susan said. "But the time is right now. I'm so glad that we're doing it right now because I'm loving it."      *Greg Hernandez, Staff Writer*

Two decades ago, when Helmut Huber, husband and manager of All My Children star Susan Lucci, first suggested they look at properties in the Hamptons, Lucci was

hesitant. “My husband and my friends had to convince me of the area,” Lucci recalls. “Looking back, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.”  In the mid-eighties, Lucci

and Huber purchased a parcel of oceanfront property in Quogue with a 1960s beach shack on it. “It looked like a motel,” says Lucci with a laugh. “We lived in it for the first

summer to see how the house played out and where the sun rose and set.”  They chose Quogue because it’s “a family town,” says Huber. “It’s the quietest place in the

Hamptons.”

“To me, Quogue’s a place with lots of traditions and generations. There’s still a sweetness there,” Lucci says. “I love that it has very little commercial property and it’s mostly

residential. During the summers, my daughter, Liza, would do performances at the library in town, and my son, Andreas, played golf in the junior sports program at the

Westhampton Country Club. There were lots of other children with whom mine have developed lifelong friendships.”

After that first summer, Lucci and Huber had the beach shack knocked down and began construction on their new home. “We wanted to build a shingled house,” Lucci says.

“We always loved that style, but most of the new homes at that time were more contemporary. Robert Stern and Gene Sutterman were doing some beautiful work, so we

chose to go with Gene. He was very hands-on with us.”

While completing the design, Lucci and Huber drew inspiration not only from the surroundings but also from the works of architectural firm McKim, Mead & White and the

paintings of Swedish artist Carl Larsson. “I wanted it to be a family home, not just a beach house,” says Lucci. “The color and the details are very much inspired by

Carl Larsson, and a lot of the colors echo the colors of beach glass.”

During the three years it took to build the house, Lucci oversaw the decorating process, adding elements of her heritage and relying on her husband’s legwork.

“Everyone knows I’m Italian, but I’m half Swedish, too. I wanted the house to reflect both. There’s a niche on the way up to the widow’s walk where I have my Swedish glass

collection.

“My husband was doing a lot to help complete the house—he was so involved,” says Lucci. “He has a great eye. Once when I was away doing a movie in LA, he brought a

sampling of all the tiles with him out to California and laid them all out on the hotel-room floor to see if I liked them.”

While shooting the 1986 miniseries Anastasia in Vienna, Lucci and Huber hunted for antiques for their home. “I was on a very dense schedule, so my husband would find

pieces he liked and ask the shopkeepers to put them in the window. They’d leave the lights on, and he’d drive me by at night so I could see them! It was so sweet.” One

such acquisition, an intricately painted armoire from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is prominently displayed in the living room.

When she finished shooting Anastasia, Lucci and Huber drove up to the mountains outside Salzburg. “We found an Austrian marble washstand that would be wheeled into

the bedroom of the prince or princess of Salzburg,” Lucci recalls. “The blue and white china pieces are original Meissen china.”

There are more than a dozen rooms in the sprawling Quogue home; Huber’s favorite is the library, while Lucci says she loves them all— especially the living room, “because
